REM-Fit Introduces New SleepSmart Monitor and SmartPillow

REM-Fit Sleep Monitor

Bedding brand REM-Fit, a division of Chicago-based Protect-A-Bed, has introduced a sleep monitor powered by Sleepace.

According to a news release, the REM-Fit Sleep Monitor, powered by Sleepace, is a nonwearable sleep monitor that uses sensors to monitor heart rate, breathing and motion. The device attaches to the mattress, below a fitted sheet.

A mobile app offers sleep analysis and tells users how often they tossed and turned.

“When we first entered the sleep technology industry last year with our REM-Fit Active sleep and activity tracker, we couldn’t anticipate the level of enthusiasm we would receive,” said Warrick Bell, director of product development for REM-Fit and Protect-A-Bed. “The Sleepace partnership allows us to utilize their technology to provide insights for users to get a better night’s sleep.”

Also new, the REM-Fit World’s Smartest Pillow, which vibrates “to subtly encourage” users to change sleep position if they snore and detects alarm times set on a mobile device, waking the user up at “the appropriate time with subtle vibrations. (It provides) real-time responses to sleep movements (allowing) users to analyze their sleep patterns with qualitative and quantitative data,” according to the company.

The pillow also has internal speakers with preloaded soundscapes and ambient noise.

“You constantly read tips and tricks about how to get more sleep, especially at this time of year when everyone is focused on losing weight, increasing athletic performance and reaching new goals,” Bell said. “You need good sleep to allow your body to repair itself. If you don’t get enough sleep, you won’t perform well. This technology allows consumers to sleep smarter to reach their fitness goals.”
