BekaertDeslee expanding N.C. manufacturing plant

Textile and sewn covers supplier BekaertDeslee, with world headquarters in Waregem, Belgium, is expanding its North American manufacturing facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The company is investing more than $4 million to add 80,000 square feet to its existing 270,000-square-foot N.C. facility. The company also is purchasing new manufacturing equipment and expanding the number of full-time employees there.

“We are making this major investment to allow us to better service our growing customer base and the ongoing demand in this key North American market,” said Brandon Wells, general manager of BekaertDeslee North America. “We will be adding new knitting machinery and updated equipment to support our weaving operations, along with another finishing frame and laminating machine. This new machinery and square footage will increase our capacity significantly and provide us with a much greater degree of flexibility.”

He continued: “We are very excited about these new additions to our North American business unit and looking forward to continuing our growth and expansion. Due to our ongoing success, we are in the process of expanding our workforce, which will see 50 new employees added this year and bring our full-time employee base to over 300. Our commitment to this market is deeply rooted in our long-term global strategy and presence.”

BekaertDeslee has been manufacturing in North America since 1999. It has 19 manufacturing locations worldwide.
