Spring Air Inks 2 New Licensing Agreements

Mattress licensing group Spring Air International, with headquarters in Chelsea, Massachusetts, has signed two new licensees: Johnson City Bedding Co., based in Johnson City, Tennessee, and Houston-based Continental Silverline Products LLC.

Established in 1934, family-owned Johnson City also has a Restonic license and manufactures the Springwall brand for private label. Founded in 1938, Continental Silverline operates a 100,000-square-foot factory on a 5 ½-acre site east of downtown Houston.

According to a news release, Johnson City Bedding will build Spring Air Back Supporter and Chattam & Wells beds beginning Sept. 1. Johnson City’s Spring Air territory covers Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Continental Silverline will begin producing the signature Back Supporter and high-end Chattam & Wells lines on Sept. 1 for distribution in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. Continental Silverline’s product line also includes private-label bedding for major retail customers, and the company will continue to produce bedding under the Restonic label.

“We’re focusing on like-minded independent manufacturers who share our vision and will take advantage of the full range of products and services we offer,” said Nick Bates, president of Spring Air.

Bates said both the Johnson City and Continental Silverline regions are part of a 26-state territory serviced by Corsicana, Texas-based Corsicana Mattress Co., whose licensing agreement officially ends Aug. 31. He said Spring Air expects to sign additional domestic licensees in the coming weeks.
