Contest drives fans to Carpenter Facebook page

With the help of a giveaway, industry supplier Carpenter Co. has generated heavy traffic on its Sleep Better Facebook page, topping 100,000 fans. The Gift of Sleep contest, which launched Dec. 21, drove more than 35,000 new “likes” to the page. Visitors who liked the page were eligible to enter the Gift of Sleep contest. One winner per week was chosen to receive an Isotonic mattress, along with a package of sleep accessories. A $5,000 cash prize was awarded to one entrant on Jan. 31. “We are committed to a sustained, multiyear effort to encourage Americans to get a better night’s sleep and the buzz on our Sleep Better Facebook page shows the huge demand for useful sleep tips and information,” said Dan Schecter, senior vice president of consumer products for the Richmond, Va.-based company.
