Hickory Springs Expands Coiling Operations

The Hickory Springs division of industry supplier HSM has expanded its innerspring production capacity in Conover, North Carolina, and added a new production plant in Phoenix.

Both locations are focused on the production of individually wrapped coils for the bedding industry, the Hickory, North Carolina-based company said in a news release. At 120,000 square feet, the multipurpose Phoenix facility is the company’s second location in that city. The new operation there includes a warehouse and distribution center that can handle other Hickory Springs products and enables the company to expand production in support of HSM’s growth strategy.

“This expanded capability adds significant capacity to our overall business and a new footprint in the Southwest U.S.,” said Michael Hinshaw, HSM chief operating officer. “(The investment) will allow us to grow service to existing and new customers, while continuing to deliver industry-leading quality and on-time delivery for individually wrapped coils. We look forward to meeting with our customers to explore new ways we can serve their business.”

HSM manufactures diversified products that include furniture and bedding components, packaging, transportation seating, and heavy-duty sewing machinery. The 74-year-old company has six divisions: Hickory Springs Manufacturing, HS Metalworks, HSM Diversified Solutions, HSM Logistics, HSM Transportation and Specialty Manufacturing Co., and Atlanta Attachment Co. HSM has 38 locations across 15 states and employs approximately 3,000 people.
