Mattress licensing group Spring Air International, with headquarters in Chelsea, Massachusetts, has signed a licensing agreement with Vietnam-based bedding manufacturer and retailer LMG World Co. Ltd, a business unit of AmericanStar Group, headquartered near Ho Chi Minh City.
The deal gives LMG the right to produce all Spring Air brands, including Back Supporter and Chattam & Wells, and distribute them in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. With this new agreement, the Spring Air brand is now available in more than 40 countries.
Beds will be manufactured at AmericanStar Group’s 1.2 million square-foot facility that also houses foam-pouring and spring-making lines.
“This agreement helps us expand our international footprint in a key region that has become an important mattress manufacturing hub in recent years,” said Nick Bates, Spring Air president. “AmericanStar operates one of the largest mattress factories in the world and has been aggressively expanding in its home region and internationally. Their deep knowledge of the Southeast Asian market will be a tremendous asset to the Spring Air family.”
Spring Air products also will be sold at AmericanStar’s high-end retail store LMG-World Luxury Mattress Gallery in Ho Chi Minh City.
Industry veteran Lee Hinshaw who is chief operating officer and sales director for LMG, said, “U.S. bedding brands carry a lot of clout with consumers throughout Southeast Asia, and Spring Air is an important addition to our portfolio.”
