OMI adds retailers, predicts growth for organic mattress category

Organic Mattresses Inc., a manufacturer of handmade, organic mattresses with headquarters in Yuba City, California, reported a “20% increase in its retailer store base,” after the summer Las Vegas Market, according to a news release.

The company recently named industry veteran Kurt Ling as chief executive officer. This was his first Las Vegas Market in his new role with OMI.

“We saw a very high volume of buyers in Vegas—above and beyond expectations—and we were pleasantly surprised with the number of retailers adding the organic category to their floors,” Ling said.

“In the past, the organic mattress space has been seen as purely catering to the chemically sensitive, but it is clear that the category offers a unique product at retail that appeals to multiple consumer groups in one of most quickly emerging trends in America,” he said. “We are a well-positioned brand in the industry to grow this trend and we are confident that more specialty stores and independent retailers will continue to add the organic category and OrganicPedic mattresses and accessories to their stores.”
