With the addition of five stores in China, there now are 83 Kingsdown branded stores in 58 Chinese cities, according to the Mebane, North Carolina-based mattress manufacturer.
The stores are part of an ongoing licensing agreement with Hong Kong-based bedding producer and retailer Roth Bedding Technology, also known as Kingsdown China.
The latest openings include three additional stores in Beijing, taking the city’s total to six. There also are new locations in Changzhou and Xianyang. The stores are part of a plan to open 500 branded stores throughout China by 2020. Kingsdown and Roth joined forces in 2015.
The stores sell the standard product lineup, along with products designed and developed specifically for the Chinese marketplace.
“The Chinese consumer is attracted to our more luxurious offerings and has helped position Kingsdown at the higher end of the market in the country,” said Frank Hood, president and chief executive officer. “We continue to grow our market share with China’s luxury mattress consumer through our strategic plan and partnership with Roth.”
