Hilding Anders enters Russia

Bedding producer Hilding Anders has opened a sales office in St. Petersburg, Russia, to offer several of its Scandinavian bed brands to the Russian market—both at retail and, in particular, to the hospitality sectors in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

The company’s Russian operation has been named Unituli OOO and has been established through its Finnish subsidiary, Unituli Oy.

Elena Sotnikova, managing director, has significant experience with the bedding industry in Russia, according to Anders Palsson, president and chief executive officer of Hilding Anders, based in Malmo, Sweden.

“I am convinced that in Elena Sotnikova we have the right person to lead this development,” he said.

“The Russian marketing is interesting for us,” Palsson continued. “Consumer purchasing power is increasing and the hotel market is growing. The upcoming Olympic Games in Sochi (in 2014) naturally make the Russian market even more attractive. Our goal is to become the leading supplier to the hotel contract business in Russia within three to four years.”

Brands being offered in Russia include Jensen, Hilding Anders and Unidream.

“Our intention is to offer Russian consumers the very best of Scandinavian bedding comfort,” Palsson said. “Therefore, we also plan to open ‘shop–in–shops’ together with leading retailers in Russia during 2008 and 2009.”
