Eclipse partners with new licensees

Bedding group Eclipse International has signed two new partners to its licensing program, Uypao in China and Sleep King Crown Design in Canada. Eclipse, a brand reestablished by Bedding Inds. of America in 2000, now has 10 licensees around the world. Most recently, the company completed licensing deals in Korea and Ireland.

According to Bedding Inds. of America president Stuart Carlitz, Eclipse has seven or eight more partnerships that it expects to roll out in the near future. “We’re on a roll,” he says. “We’re getting inquiries from around the world every week.” Carlitz says the secret to success for Eclipse is his partner, longtime bedding industry member Jerry Gershaw, and the patents for Eclipse products. But Gershaw, chairman and CEO of Eclipse, says it’s a shrinking dealer base. “The Eclipse brands gives manufacturers the ability to ’sell across the street’ or to become more important to his dealers by offering two brand names.”

Gershaw adds, “We’re a rapidly growing manufacturing group and we’re here to stay.” Bedding Inds. of America also produces Therapedic and Restonic lines.
